Asia 72: Dòng Nhạc Y Vân
Asia 72: “Dòng Nhạc Y Vân” is the latest installment in the Asia series. Originally advertised as “Music in the Sun” and intended to be filmed in Niagara Falls, New York, the theme and location was changed, being filmed at the Asia/SBTN Studio in California in front of a small audience. Nevertheless, Asia puts forth their best effort to bring a wonderful show!
Asia 72 pays tribute to song writing legend, Y Vân. Audiences can enjoy performances of many of his well-known songs, including “Lòng Mẹ,” performed by Thanh Lan and Lê Anh Quân, “Ảo Ảnh,” performed by Hoàng Anh Thư and Mai Thanh Sơn, “Xa Vắng,” performed by Thiên Kim, and a medley of upbeat numbers, including “60 Năm Cuộc Đời” and “Những Bước Chân Âm Thầm,” to open and close the show. Asia 72 is definitely a great show worth purchasing, a wonderful summer gift for family and relatives that have grown up with the music of Y Vân. Ánh Minh - Sunrise
Ánh Minh’s latest release, “Sunrise,” also marks her debut release from Thúy Nga Productions. The album shows a transformation in Ánh Minh’s music, working with various producers, including Dương Khắc Linh, a producer from Việt Nam who has worked with the likes of Hồ Ngọc Hà and Thanh Bùi; and Andrew Underberg who has worked with a variety of artists including Korean boy band, Cross Gene. Ánh Minh steps up her game with this album, and her hard work definitely pays off. Highlights on this album include the title track,
“Sunrise,” the addictive dance track, “Mơ,” the downtempo “Tình Yêu Vụn Vỡ,” and “Bước Cùng Thời Gian,” which she recently performed in Paris By Night 108.
The tracks that have been performed on Paris By Night, such as “Dối Trá” or “Bắt Đầu Một Kết Thúc” are a little inconsistent, mix and sound quality wise, with the rest of the tracks that were produced specifically for the album.
Nevertheless, “Sunrise” is a huge step in the right direction. Ánh Minh puts forth an album that sounds much more modern than many of the albums in today’s Vietnamese overseas music industry. Following current musical trends of larger music industries, “Sunrise” is an album that is much more accessible and appealing to the younger generation.
